JERSEY WRITERS SOCIAL GROUP: AUTHOR INTERVIEW – ABIGAIL SUMMER

Extract from a frank and honest interview with Jersey Writers Social Group Member, Abigail Summer. TESSA:  What was the hardest part of writing this book? ABIGAIL: I wasn’t prepared for the emotional turmoil. Many of the things that Colette endured were my own experiences. Two scenes were particularly hard to write. The first is when Colin opens up to Leanne about his childhood; at an early age, he couldn’t understand why he was dressed as a boy when he identified as a girl. The bullying at school, and the loneliness of his early teenage years.

FLYING HIGH

On our final day in Liverpool, we crammed it all in. The Liverpool Museum, a ferry across the Mersey, duck and Cantonese noodles and prawn toast for a very late lunch, followed by my long-awaited mind-blowing experience.

The Legend that is Albert Lee

The truth is that I knew very little about Albert Lee, but his gig at the Jersey Opera House last week was a part of his ongoing and gruelling tour in what is his 76th year, which speaks volumes.  Just looking at the dates and the venues spread around the world makes me feel tired.

Happy Friday… peonies and all…

I was unceremoniously woken by a clap of thunder. When I looked out of my bedroom window, Storm Miguel was battering my peonies and the rest of the garden, which was shaping up to be our best horticultural endeavour ever.

WELCOME TO THE DIDSBROOK WRITERS GROUP

An Honest Review is about a writers group somewhere in the Home Counties. I must stress that this is a work of fiction and any resemblance to actual persons is purely coincidental. Over the next few weeks, I am planning to introduce you to the members of the Didsbrook Writers Group, in the hope that you might grow to love them as much as I do.

DEFINING MOMENTS: A VISUAL SYNOPSIS

Defining Moments is a bittersweet coming of (middle) age story about Baby Boomer, Lisa Grant, ex-columnist for Focal Point magazine, who struggles to sustain a long-term relationship because of the fallout from her dysfunctional childhood.

DEFINING MOMENT 11 – TIME TO GET TOUGH. Bite-sized Extract #read #fiction #enjoy #like

Elizabeth had never been to see Coln Castle, the boarding school for young ladies in Gloucestershire, but they always advertised in Country Lifestyle and that was good enough for her.  Country Lifestyle was the bastion of rural English literature for the husky-wearing brigade, which often featured articles by Lady Prunella Plumpton.  Such was their reputation, which meant they would never publish advertisements about any dodgy educational establishments, so Elizabeth had enrolled Lisa five years previously.

Morning Muse – Soggy Sunday

About as lyrical as I can wax on this soggy Sunday is... wet and grey. Unlike Freaky Friday, when the pink and orange hues of the sunrise, spread hopefulness and inspiration over a darkened world.
