OXFORD LITERARY FESTIVAL 30th March to 7th April 2018

It hasn’t quite sunk in that I’m going for four out of the nine days.

I will be soaking up the words of wisdom of people I have admired for many years, such as the legendary Ranulph Fiennes.

Mary Beard, who I got to ‘know’ during her fascinating TV series Meet the Romans.
Melvin Bragg (I don’t ever think I missed an episode of the South Bank Show).

Much admired veteran journalists, Kate Adie, and Martin Bell.

I hope to meet new friends along the way too.  Buddist monk, meditation trainer and author, Gelong Thubten, who I am delighted to hear is coming to the Opera House in Jersey with Ruby Wax in May. (And, yes, I’ve had my tickets booked for a while.)

David Barrie who will be looking at the mysteries of how animals find their way without the benefit of maps or instruments.

Neurologist Guy Leschziner too, who will be talking about The Nocturnal Brain: Tales of Nightmares and Neuroscience.

My excitement is twofold as I have never been into the heart of the wonderfully historic City of Oxford which, apart from being a renown University City, also has one of the fastest growing populations in the UK.

The Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford

And the buildings!  The Sheldonian Theatre where many of the events will be held… is nothing short of stunning.

I can’t wait!

  1. Oxford is a wonderful city, and a lit festival to boot! My husband would spend all his time talking to Val McDermid–he’s a BIG fan. Have fun!

Thank you very much for visiting my niche-less blog! If you have time before you leave, would love you to tell us what you think. All the best, Tessa Barrie
