Every year I sign petitions and do what I can to make more people aware of the Yulin Lychee and Dog Meat Festival, yet it still goes on. A date has been set for June 21 2017.
This barbaric and cruel practice is no festival, it is slaughter on an unprecedented scale during which time much beer is swilled. If you love dogs, please …
Dogs are snared around the neck with metal hooks, dragged from their cages, then either bludgeoned or stabbed in the neck or groin to be “bled out”. Or they are hanged or electrocuted. It is likely that the dogs witness multiple deaths of their own.
At its height, 10,000 – 15,000 dogs were butchered annually at the festival.
It is understood that the figure for 2014 reduced to around 3,000 and last year 1,000 so things are, possibly, going in the right direction, but please remember that around 10 million dogs are eaten in China every year.
I feel their pain, if you do, please sign the petition now.
