On this day … 9th April 1969

On this day 47 years ago, Brian Trubshaw and John Cochrane flew the first British built Concorde 002 G-BSST from Filton, Bristol to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.  The 22-minute flight was broadcast around the world, securing Concorde’s place in aviation history.

Brian Trubshaw was recorded as saying:

“It was an awesome experience for myself and my crew”.

It was an awesome aircraft which went on to fly 50,000 flights, flying more that 2.5 million passengers supersonically.

This exceptional aircraft was designed and tested by a remarkable crew who became like family over the years.
