I saw ‘The Theory of Everything’ a couple of weeks ago and thought that was the best film I had seen for some time, but ….  I have just seen ‘The Imitation Game’ and I am in bits.  I didn’t know that much about the work of Benedict Cumberbatch, but am now completely hooked.  He is brilliant in the role of Enigma code breaker, Alan Turing.  I did know about the achievements of Alan Turing, but not the whole story,

THE IMITATION GAME

Incidentally, Cumberbatch is a distant cousin of Alan Turing, so maybe this is why his amazing performance is so heartfelt and surely worthy of the Best Actor Oscar tonight.

Keira Knightly is also brilliant in a supporting role as Joan Clarke.

800x600

After cracking the Enigma Code, Turing was persecuted by the British Establishment because of his homosexuality and is thought to have killed himself in 1954 by eating a poisoned apple.

Can’t believe such an outrage happened such a relatively short time ago.
