Wherever in the world you are … I wish you peace and everything that you wish for yourself in 2015.
I hope you welcomed the New Year in with style? For me, spending it with the people I care about the most was key. At home, in front of a roaring fire with plenty of good food, wine and, if music be the food of love … cue the music … and there was plenty of music to be heard on the TV last night. Queen and Adam Lambert in concert at Westminster Hall was just fantastic. Inspired choice BBC!
I so wish I had been there! What I would give to see them live!
I may have had a tear in my eye during the featured video clips of Freddie performing, but Adam doesn’t try to be Freddie. He performs Queen’s musical masterpieces in his own inimitable style and you have to admire him for that. Freddie was just so brilliant. A performer whose act is just too hard to follow.
Jools Holland’s Hootenanny gig – so inspired @ the BEEB last night – well, it just gets better and the line up included Paloma Faith, the gorgeous Paolo ‘wish I could see his eyes all the time’ Nutini.
The equally gorgeous Ed Sheeran, Joss Stone, Ellie Goulding … the list goes on. But for me it was the night for the golden oldies. If Queen’s Roger Taylor and Brian May are stupendous, Jools had the likes of Wilko Johnson and William Bell strutting their stuff and Ronnie Spector, former lead singer of the Ronettes, at 71, was just brilliant! What an inspiration!
You can catch both these great music extravaganzas on BBC iplayer right now. I will be watching again this afternoon! Just in case I missed anything.
I maybe feeling a bit ropey this morning but, hey, you get caught up in the moment don’t you? OK I shouldn’t have had red wine with the Brie, Cambazola or the San Agur and more importantly, I shouldn’t have carried on drinking red wine before and after cracking open something fizzy at midnight. But what the hell … Detox starts on Monday … probably …
ROCK ON 2015!
