Restaurant Review – Aromas, St. Helier, Jersey


I do not go to Aromas enough. I last went at the beginning of this year, there were four of us and we all had an excellent meal. This is a small, intimate, family run restaurant, so it is advisable to book. I rang up a couple of days before and luckily they managed to squeeze two of us in last night amongst the inevitable Christmas parties and they served up a faultless, first class three course meal. With only three staff waiting at table and the Chef and only one other sous chef, as far as I could see, everything ran like clockwork amongst the sea of Christmas revelry in the packed restaurant.

Amongst an array of mouth watering starters, one of Aromas specialities for me is their Duck Spring Roll which is absolutely the bees knees and one day I might actually try another of their starters. There are a variety of main courses to choose from, I have had steaks in the past, which are cooked to perfection but last night I plumped for the best rack of lamb I have ever tasted which melted in the mouth. Absolutely gorgeous. We both had creme brûlée for desert. I don’t often have a sweet course, but my goodness, I am very pleased I did last night! It was delicious. So, topped off with a bottle of my favourite Pinot Grigio, Aromas gets my vote as one of the best restaurants around.

So if you are looking for a reasonably priced meal, great service and fantastic food, Aromas will not disappoint you.
